Care built around each child
How we plan, deliver and review care, so every young person knows who they can turn to and what happens next.
Three principles behind every placement
Child-centred
Each young person has a named key worker: one consistent adult who gets to know them well and speaks up for them.
Consistent
The whole team works from the same care plan, so routines, boundaries and support stay the same from shift to shift.
Individually assessed
Before anyone moves in, we look carefully at their needs, history and wishes, and at whether the home is the right match.

One trusted adult, every step of the way
A young person’s key worker spends regular one-to-one time with them, helps them settle and reflect, and makes sure their views shape their care plan.
Key workers keep in close contact with social workers, schools and, where it is right for the child, their family.
Your journey with us
What happens from first contact to settling in.
- 1
Referral
The placing authority contacts us with the young person’s referral and information.
- 2
Matching
We assess the referral against the home, the team and the young people already living there, and tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.
- 3
Introductions
Where possible, the young person visits, meets staff and sees their room before moving in.
- 4
Moving in
A planned welcome, with their key worker on shift and their room ready for them.
- 5
Review
Plans are reviewed regularly with the young person, their social worker and family where appropriate.

Questions from referrers
Quick answers to what social workers and placement teams ask us most.
What ages do you care for?
Children and young people aged 4 to 18.
How quickly will you respond to a referral?
Call us on 0151 374 2841 or email Info@youngsupportservices.co.uk and we will tell you when to expect an answer.
What information should I send first?
Start with a short summary: the young person’s age, their needs, and the type and length of placement you are looking for. Send names, reports and other identifying documents through your authority’s secure email, not through our website form.
Can a young person visit before moving in?
Where possible, yes. We arrange introductions so they can meet the team and see their room before they move in.
Where are your homes?
All our homes are in Cheshire, close to our office in Widnes. To keep the young people who live there safe, we share exact locations as part of a referral.
How is the care in your homes checked?
Children’s homes in England are registered and inspected by Ofsted. Each home also has a monthly visit from an independent person (Regulation 44), and the registered manager reviews the quality of care at least every six months (Regulation 45).
How do I raise a concern or make a complaint?
If a child may be at risk, follow our safeguarding statement, or call 999 in an emergency. For anything else, our complaints procedure explains how to raise it and what happens next.
Making a referral?
Talk to us about a young person and we will tell you quickly and honestly whether we can help.
